American Psycho - Movie Research Blog

Image
In the psychological horror-thriller "American Psycho," the film embodies various conventions of the genre. Notably, it explores the descent into madness and the blurred lines between reality and the protagonist's delusions. The film's use of an unreliable narrator, graphic violence, and a surreal narrative structure aligns with psychological thriller conventions. One convention that I found compelling in "American Psycho" is its satirical commentary on consumerism and the superficial nature of society. The dark humor and social critique add depth to the thriller genre, elevating it beyond a conventional horror narrative. Additionally, the psychological complexity of the main character, Patrick Bateman, contributes to the film's effectiveness within the genre. However, the explicit and graphic nature of certain scenes, especially the depiction of violence, may not align with my vision for the final task. While psychological intensity is crucial for a thr

Mother! - Movie Research Blog

In the psychological thriller "Mother!," several genre conventions contribute to its intense and disconcerting atmosphere. The film employs a surreal narrative structure, with elements of horror and allegory, typical of psychological thrillers. Conventions such as unreliable narration, escalating tension, and the blurring of reality and delusion are skillfully utilized to create an unsettling experience for the audience. One convention that I found intriguing and appreciated in "Mother!" is the allegorical nature of the storytelling. The film weaves a complex metaphorical narrative that allows for multiple interpretations, encouraging viewers to engage with the story on a deeper level. The use of symbolism, biblical references, and the exploration of psychological torment are elements that enhance the depth of the thriller genre. However, there were moments in the film where the intensity and graphic nature of certain scenes felt overwhelming. The film's descent

Jeniffers Body - Movie Research Blog

Image
In "Jennifer's Body," a thriller comedy with elements of the supernatural, several genre conventions are evident. Notably, the film incorporates themes of demonic possession, body horror, and the blurring of lines between the monstrous and the familiar—common tropes in thriller. The movie cleverly plays with the expectations of the audience, subverting traditional thriller elements to create a unique and engaging narrative. One convention in the film that I appreciated is its use of dark humor and satirical commentary on societal expectations, particularly concerning female friendships and the objectification of women. This added a layer of depth to the genre, making it stand out among conventional horror films. The integration of a strong, complex female lead, portrayed by Megan Fox, also contributes positively to the genre. However, there were moments in the film where the reliance on gratuitous and overly explicit scenes felt gratuitous and detracted from the overall s

That’s all for now, bye lovelies!

PITCH PITCH PITCH

Image
My team and I came up with two pitches- Pitch One: Mostly silent film about a deaf person who gets attacked in their own home.  I personally thought it’d be really cool to do a mostly silent film that only isn’t silent during the times that the attacker is the main focus of the screen.  Pitch Two: Killer dolls attack a group of teenagers.  We thought it’d be cool if we had a child character basically control these dolls and use them to attack her older brother and his friends. We ended up going with pitch one as we knew we could execute it and we thought the idea was really cool.

Do I even have to introduce myself again?

Hey cuties! Although I go by Shae, my name is Honey. At FLHS, I am a sophomore. My birthday is April 28th, which makes me a Taurus. Pink is my favorite color, and pink and black are my favorite color combination. I love the color pink, but I don't have any pink clothing. Violent Vira is my favorite artist. One of my favorite ways to express myself is through music. It's really lovely and there are so many ways to accomplish it, allowing for so much creativity. I also love art so so much. It's something I can make my own way with complete freedom from concern for what other people think. I just adore cats because they are so adorable, innocent, and joyful. Some of my friends have called me cheerful and vivacious, while others have called me a light, someone who is trustworthy and consistently tries to be helpful. Because there is no point in obsessing on the things that are beyond my control, I constantly attempt to be optimistic even during difficult times. I've never u
